We have two chairs, anyway, but here’s the reaso We have two chairs, anyway, but here’s the reason we need two chairs to have one seat: Wolfie LOVES this chair and won’t move, so it’s his now. #catsofinstagram #sewing #Slipcovers2021

Thanks for asking about #Slipcovers2021 resources Thanks for asking about #Slipcovers2021 resources @ninasaulic! For general construction and the cushions, especially, I used the instructions from Reader’s Digest Complete Guide to Sewing. It’s out of print, but it’s very easy to find and a great all-around #sewing book. For the parts where I used muslin to create a pattern, I used The Complete Photo Guide to Slipcovers, Pillows & Bedding. For the skirt, I’m going to use instructions from Cherie Killilea’s Custom-Fit Slipcovers: Chairs on @therealcraftsy. I am a Craftsy instructor, so it’s natural for me to want to use that, but Cherie’s technique really is incredible and I haven’t seen it described anywhere else.
There are days when #sewing feels easy and there a There are days when #sewing feels easy and there are days where your legs fall asleep because it took so long to get the darts on the slipcover deck to look right! #slipcovers2021

Nothing but absolute respect and awe for the fact Nothing but absolute respect and awe for the fact that these cushion covers have been on this planet since March of 1973. Sold to my grandmother by Dickason-Goodman Furniture, which was founded in 1894 (before Tulsa was a town and OK was a state), and closed in 1990. They claimed to be Tulsa’s oldest retail business, and they might have been! I’m proud that these comfortable, classic chairs will continue to have pride of place in my home through my #Slipcovers2021 project.
It’s so easy to make #sewing sound like a terrib It’s so easy to make #sewing sound like a terrible chore. “What did you do today?” “I pinned fabric to a chair.” “So, you’re almost done with the #slipcovers2021 project?” Me: nope.
Thanks for all of the birthday wishes last week! I Thanks for all of the birthday wishes last week! I spent the day #sewing for my #Slipcovers2021 project. I managed to finish the little cushions and get all-but-three-seams finished on the larger cushions. Ready to tackle patternwork for the main covers.

My student @absoluterae asked about books/resource My student @absoluterae asked about books/resources for a beginner. I wanted to suggest Quick Stitch to Wear Again by Nancy Zieman, but I don’t see it on the Nancy’s Notions website. It’s super-useful for those little #sewing tasks, like fixing jeans hems and adjusting RTW clothes (or clothes you have made). Anyone out there know where to get copies?
